In Karjat, India, the ground had already picked its drama: two parcels of land split by a seven-metre gorge, an untouchable spillway, and water that must keep flowing. Perfect conditions to make any sensible person walk away. Wallmakers does the opposite. Vinu Daniel turns constraint into a bridge-house: thirty metres suspended, four supports, tensioned steel, straw and mud as a protective skin. Engineering starts to read like an animal’s dream. EKA Bridge House has that rare quality: it doesn’t correct the landscape, it negotiates with it. A cocoon hovering over emptiness, utopian enough to make you still trust architects who think through problems. Direct access Wallmakers / Vinu Daniel. Karjat, India, 2025.
